‘Star Wars Rebels’ Preview Is Most Impressive
The new Disney XD TV series Star Wars Rebels won’t premier until October, but producers of the new animated series Lucasfilm Animation and Disney Television Animation have released a 7:40 clip of the opening episode. And it is exciting, familiar and does an excellent job of getting you involved in the characters and their situation right out of the gate.
Rebels is set in the time between the rise of the Empire and the appearance in the rebellion of Luke Skywalker — or between Episodes III and IV. That means we get to see familiar situations and images, like the star destroyer passing overhead in the very opening scene, remarkably reminiscent of the opening scene of Episode IV.
The series listing on IMdB.com also confirms the rumor we reported back in November from Rhode Island Comic Con that Billy Dee Williams would be appearing in a new Star Wars series. While he mistakenly claimed it was for Netflix, IMdB.com lists him as playing Lando Calrissian in “unknown episodes.”
