TempleCon 2011 Pictorial

TempleCon 2011 took place on the first weekend of February in Warwick, Rhode Island. This was the first time Nerd Caliber had come to cover this five year old steampunk/gaming convention and we had a great time! I felt a good vibe with those who attended there. I am fairly new to the steampunk movement that has been gathering much steam momentum in the last few years and any questions I had about the genre was joyfully answered by the cosplayers and vendors.

It is a small con compared to Anime Boston and PAX  East but don’t be dismayed by that. TempleCon had a great vendors section that not only catered to those interested in steampunk fashion but also those interested in role playing games and comic books/novels. We quickly made friends with the Alliance Crossroads LARP group as well as the lovely couple at Jolly Rogue Studios.

The gaming section was an extremely busy area. There were many games to choose from but the Magic The Gathering tournaments were the most interesting to watch for me (I’m a former MTG player). Other entertainment available was the burlesque show on Saturday night and the many steampunk-themed panels.

But anyway, if you really want to get a better vision of what happened there then check out our pictorial below! If you have an interest in retro-futurist conventions or you are a hardcore gamer, you should take a look at TempleCon’s website and make plans to come next year. I know we plan to!
