The Photography of Bentpic5: Kamicon 2012

Kamicon is an anime convention hosted by University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL. This was their fourth season/year as a con and showing signs of growth from the previous years. They had 2,468 attendees registered which was a slight drop than last year but this was their first year charging for entrance.

When you went in to pick up your badge, whether as a walk in or pre-registered, you were given a schedule, pamphlet, and a mystery item to help you take part in their Egg of Mystery Event. The event goes along with a story line that is part of the Kamicon tradition and their mascots. Your mystery item was a step counter that counted your steps that could be redeemed for spirit points towards a certain animal mascot. In the end, The Black Yandere Turtle won.

So next year, be on the look out as that cute creature alongside the two main mascots, Shio and Kosho, in their adventure. One of the special guests, Little Kuriboh, celebrated his birthday with a big party at the con. Along with the events and amazing guests, the con offers an after-con DVD which shows footage and pictures from the entire convention weekend to help bring back great memories made and to show non-attendees what they missed out on.
