Watch Murderous Muppets On Us in The Happytime Murders!
If you ever watched Muppet Treasure Island and wonder why no pirates were hacking people to death, well, you’re in luck (sans pirates). The director of that movie, Brian Henson, is about to debut his first R-rated puppet movie, The Happytime Murders. Henson, the son of muppets co-creator Jim Henson, has made an R-rated comedy with live actors such as co-lead Melissa McCarthy and puppets such as her police partner Phil Philips.
You can see this movie this Wednesday, Aug. 22, at one of two separate locations — AMC Boston Common at 7 p.m. in downtown Boston and Cinemark Buckland Hills at 7 p.m. in the Hartford, Conn., area.
The description from the marketing firm:
Set in the underbelly of Los Angeles where puppets and humans coexist, detective Connie Edwards (Melissa McCarthy) teams up with her puppet partner, Phil Philips, to find out who’s behind a series of puppet murders. From Brian Henson, the son of Jim Henson and director of The Muppets Christmas Carol and Muppets Treasure Island, comes the least kid-friendly puppet movie ever made. The Happytime Murders is a hilarious and outrageous R-rated comedy unlike anything you’ve ever seen, starring the very funny Melissa McCarthy alongside comedy all-stars Maya Rudolph, Joel McHale and Elizabeth Banks.
