Wizard World Philadelphia 2019 Friday Cosplay Gallery
The 19th annual Wizard World Comic Con Philadelphia returned to the Pennsylvania Convention Center on June 13-16 this year. Located in the Market East section of Philadelphia, the venue is one of the largest of its kind in the Northeast, offering more than ample space for all of the convention’s attendees, with plenty of room for future growth.
The Pennsylvania Convention Center’s location in the heart of Center City Philadelphia makes it very accessible to visitors of the city whether they are traveling by car, bus, train, or regional rail. Attendees looking to get away from the convention center for lunch will find a nice variety of options in the area, perhaps most notably at the always popular Reading Terminal Market, which houses a wide variety of highly rated restaurants.
Now onto the convention itself. Over the course of their long history, Wizard World Comic Cons have become well known for drawing in fans with their celebrity lineups. Guests at this year’s convention in Philly included Ted Danson, Lana Parrilla, Rebecca Mader, Ian Somerhalder, Mehcad Brooks, Jeremy Jordan, Tony Danza, and Jared Gilmore, just to name a few.
Wizard World also hosted a number of cosplay guests, which as a cosplay photographer, I am always glad to see. Cosplay guests in attendance this year included Oh My Sophii, Knightmage, Knightmage, marl_ena, Nightingale Vixen Cosplay, and Philadelphia Avengers, all of which you will see pictured in one or more of our photo galleries from the event.
Gaming is a popular activity at many conventions, and Wizard World had a section of the show floor dedicated to it. Gamers looking to test their skills against others in a competitive environment could join in one of a number of tournaments hosted by Midwest eSports. Tournaments in Mario Kart 8, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Street Fighter V were among those held over the course of the four-day event.
Wizard World Philadelphia also featured a variety of panels during each day of the show. Panels on topics including comics, television, cosplay, pop culture, and much more entertained fans from the morning to the evening hours. Some of the celebrities in attendance also hosted Q&A sessions, giving fans a rare opportunity to interact with them.
As always, there were also plenty of vendors and artists set up on the show floor, offering a wide variety of collectibles, artwork, and custom-made wares to the thousands of fans in attendance.
Next year will be the “year of the twenties” for Wizard World Philadelphia, as they will return for their 20th annual event on June 11-14, 2020.
