You Spoke, And 2020 Will Be The Year Of The Woman In Nerd Movies

It’s been a week since I posted our poll asking you to vote on the five movies you are most looking forward to in 2020. And after seven days and piles of votes the results are in and it is clearly the year of the female-led action film. Four out of the Top 6 most anticipated movies have female leads.

“Wait, Top 6? I thought it was a Top 5 list,” you protest. Well, it is, but while there is a clear separation between 1, 2, and 3, there is a three-way tie for the No. 4 slot, so I will call those results 4-6 and include a bonus movie. The results listed below will include the percentage of votes each winner received. Also, the movies in the 4-6 slots will be ordered by calendar date of premier, with the first being the earliest to open in 2020.

Not making the cut are some of my favorites, such as Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, with just 4.69%, and the next James Bond movie, No Time To Die, which didn’t get a single vote. (OK, I voted, and not for that movie, so apparently NOT one of my absolute favorites.)

Below, with trailer links if they exist yet, are your Top 6 most anticipated nerd movies of 2020.

1: Wonder Woman 1984 (14.06%)

2: Black Widow (12.50%)

3: Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (10.94%)

4: Mulan (6.25%)
